choose proccessor for your computer

A computer processor, often considered the brains of the machine, has the most significant effect on performance and price. If you want a computer to be able to keep up with technology over the next few years you should invest in a fast processor.

Think about what you will be doing with your computer for the next 3 years. That is about the timeframe for machines these days.
If you are just using your machine for casual use, such as word processing, web browsing and the occasional card game, consider an Intel Pentium Dual Core or AMD Sempron processor. If you prefer Macintosh machines, look into an Intel Core 2 Duo.
If you are a middle of the road user, who likes all of the above things but also the occasional heavier game and multimedia use (i.e. pictures and mp3s), an Intel Quad Core would be better. The Quad Core is also great for heavy online multimedia games and heavier multimedia use.
If Macintoshes are your taste and you are a heavier user, the Intel Dual Quad Core processors can take care of all your needs.
If your budget allows it, try and spend as much as you can on the fastest processor. This is because technology evolves at a very fast pace and your machine will be able to keep up after a few years.

These are the steps for setting up most Macintosh computers. Make the necessary adjustments if you have a built-in monitor or USB peripherals. You should be able to set up a Macintosh in about 10 minutes.
Make sure your desk or table is near an electric outlet and a phone jack.
Carefully remove equipment from the packing cartons.

Make sure you have everything that should have come in the boxes, including power cords for each piece of equipment. Each box should include a packing list.
Position the equipment on your desk. If the computer is a mini-tower, it can go on the floor as long as it has space behind it for ventilation.
Plug the mouse into the keyboard. Match the icon on the mouse plug to an icon on the keyboard. This ADB plug will only go in one way; turn it 90 degrees if you have trouble.
Plug the keyboard into the small, round ADB port on the back of the computer. (This should be marked with the same icon as your mouse plug.)
Connect a printer according to the manufacturer's instructions. (Printers might be connected to a number of different ports.)
Connect any other devices, such as speakers, a microphone or an external modem. Let the icons on the back of the computer guide you, but use the port specified by the device manufacturer.
Connect a modem to a phone jack using the supplied phone cable. Plug the phone cable into the surge suppressor if it has a phone cable connector, then plug the second cable into wall jack.
Connect power cords to each piece of equipment.
If you have an external Zip drive, connect it to the SCSI or USB port, depending on what type of drive it is.
Connect the monitor to the computer. The monitor port is unique; find the corresponding size and shape. Use a monitor adapter if necessary. (If you bought a non-Apple monitor this might be necessary.)
Tighten the hand-screws on the monitor plug.
Plug each piece of equipment into a surge suppressor.
Turn on the surge suppressor.
Turn on the monitor.
Turn on all other powered devices connected to computer.

Tip #1 Size Matters

Your answer will help determine which size and weight will best suit your needs. If you will be carrying your laptop frequently, a lighter model will be preferable.

The keyboard is another area to consider when buying a laptop. Why is the size of the keyboard important? A larger laptop will have a slightly larger keyboard area. But keep in mind that if you worry about your fingers or wrists taking on too much stress from typing on a keyboard that is too small, you may want this to be a main factor in your purchasing decision,

Tip #2 Choose Your Mouse

A laptop it will come with a built in touch pad, an alternative to the mouse, whereby the pad is controlled by the user's finger movement. For some people, this type of pad is uncomfortable and not easy to work with. Before purchasing a laptop, determine what mouse options are available. Test each one and determine which one best meets your needs.

Tip #3 Wireless Options

Today, when many people think laptop, they think ?wireless?. No doubt people want to make sure that their laptop computer will be able to access the Internet with a wireless connection. Many try to account for this by ensuring that their laptop has potential upgrade options, such as room for an expandable PC card or a USB port. However, since so many laptop users are looking for wireless connections, many of today's laptops come pre-wired for wireless Internet. All you need to do is activate your wireless Internet service, and your laptop will take it from there. So depending on your needs, choose your laptop whether it is capable of expanding or if it is already configured for wireless Internet.

Tip #4 Check for Ports

Peripheral equipment will be connected to your laptop through USB ports. You will make your life much less complicated by ensuring that your laptop has adequate ports. Connecting equipment such as printers, scanners, and digital cameras will be much simpler if you have the ports readily available. If you are not sure, thoroughly read the specs for any laptop that you are considering purchasing.

Tip #5 Check Your Budget First

Finally, when buying a laptop, beware that you do not overspend. First create your budget and stick to it. When you think that you have found the laptop that you want, do not rush into it. Wait a day and check over your budget, requirements, and see if you are still as excited about the laptop in the morning, as you were when the sales clerk was showing off its specs. If you still feel that it is the laptop that you want to purchase, then go for it.

About Conferencing

Posted by Android On 0 komentar
Globalization and the integration of the world economy have now made it possible for people and companies to tap into new markets around the globe. This means that in their search for new clients, people in business need to travel to as many places as they can. However, the search for new clients does not stop at the initial business meeting, as constant communication needs to be maintained between businesses as they enter into a business relationship.

Given this, businesses that are located in between long distances need an effective way by which they can communicate with each other without having to spend too much money on business trips. Fortunately, recent developments in communications technology have now made it possible for businesses to do so. One of these developments includes conferencing, which is a form of technology that allows people to have a ?business meeting? even if they are separated by very long distances.

Types of conferencing solutions

Today, there are three conferencing solutions that businesses can use for their communications needs. One of these is Audio Conferencing, which utilizes PBX systems that bridges two speakerphones wherein the participants of the conference can hold the meeting right at their respective conference rooms. Among all the types of conferencing technologies, audio conferencing has been around the longest and it utilizes comparatively simple technology.

Another type of conferencing solution is Video Conferencing, wherein an added feature of having video technology is added to the conference call. Although these types of conference calls are a little more expensive than audio conferencing, most businesses still use them as it can greatly enhance the conferencing experience. The most modern among these technologies is Web Conferencing, wherein desktop computers that are hooked to the Internet are used to hold the conference. This option is becoming very popular as it provides additional features at very low costs.

To meet the need for businesses to maintain constant communications with their clients worldwide, there are a number of conferencing technologies that businesses can utilize. These include audio conferencing, video conferencing, and web conferencing, which all have features that can enhance not only the conferencing experience but the business relationship as well.

old mews but i just want collect article in my blog.check this out!Third generation technology, better known as 3G technology has hit the United States and is here to stay. What 3G doesn?t do is have an obvious impact on the look, fell or design of a cellular phone. However, what 3G does dose is promise faster communication services which include fax, voice, and even internet services. This can be offered 3G uses seamless global roaming. New multimedia entertainment and applications are able to be used to their maximum capability because of the 3G network. The first 3G network was actually released in Japan, and is now offered in the United States by companies like Cingular.

Along the same lines of 3G technology, Verizon has decided along with Sprint/Nextel to offer their own version of 3G services but is called Ed-Vo. Other companies such as T-Mobile don?t plan to roll out this technology with their services until 2007. So what is 3G technology exactly? This technology will bring wireless data services to your phone like you?ve never seen them before. This technology boasts speeds about three times faster than a 56 Kbps connection to 2.4Mbps connection speed, equivalent to using a cable modem. 3G networks allow users to easily and quickly read through web pages, watch streaming music videos, and use video conferencing to its fullest.

The experience you will have while using 3G technology with a cellular phone will be one close to using your home computer with a broadband connection. It seems that hand held computers are definitely the way of the future. With each company committing to spending billions of dollars to upgrade to a 3G network, this technology is surely worth the price we will all undoubtedly pay. Basic VOIP

Posted by Android On 0 komentar
Many people are hearing for the first time about VOIP. VOIP, or voice over internet protocol, is a method of talking on the phone through the use of the internet. It works by taking analog audio signals and turns them into digital data which can then be transmitted over the web. Sounds confusing? Really, it is simple and very interesting. This technology has been developed and used extensively. Today, more and more people are switching their long distance service away from traditional means and focusing them on VOIP simply because it offers high quality and, get ready for this, affordable prices!

In effect, it allows you to get free phone calls through your internet connection. In fact, you can use VOIP instead of using any of the phone company products and therefore you do not have to pay them for what you can get for free using VOIP. Sounds great, doesn?t it?

There are several providers out there that are now offering VOIP service. In fact, some of the traditional phone companies are realizing that this is the way of the future for their business and are developing networks across the United States. Although the technology for the VOIP system has been around for a while, not many carriers put it to use. But, Vonage is one of those that did. And, they have a growing percentage of individuals on their plans now. They are growing because this is an affordable way to make phone calls. Many see VOIP as the phone systems that will be used well into the future.

How Do You Do It? There are several ways in which the phone call using VOIP can be used. The first and most common is ATA. This is the simplest method. It allows you to plug into the computer using a analog telephone adaptor. You will plug your standard telephone into the ATA and then plug the ATA into the computer. As you can see, this sounds simple and works well for most. There is software that is needed to configure the system but like most other programs it is relatively simple to use.

Another way to use the VOIP service is through IP phones. These phones look just like traditional phones but have special adapters on them. The phones will connect to the computer using an RJ-45 Ethernet connector. This way, they can plug directly into your router. The phones themselves have all the necessary technology stored on them. Soon, you will find that there will be phones that use Wi-Fi connections in that they will allow you to make VOIP calls anywhere there is a Wi-Fi hot spot.

Lastly, there is even an easier method for using VOIP. Computer to computer systems are available that allow you to never pay for any long distance phone calls again. Using a microphone, speakers and a sound card that your computer may already have, you can talk via the internet to anyone else. In most cases, there is no charge for these calls besides those of paying for your internet service.
Why Should I Have It?We have talked about how it works, but why should you switch to a VOIP service? The fact is that this system is one that allows for the most affordable pricing of any long distance phone service. Let?s face it, that is what most people are looking at. But, there is more to it than just that.

You have flexibility in the use of your VOIP service as well. You can take your adapter with you to virtually any location around the world that has broadband technology and hook into your home service. You can also use your computer to make calls anywhere it can get on the internet. As long as you have a microphone and speakers, you are set to use your VOIP service.

Features. There are just as many and more features that can be used through the VOIP service. Such things as caller ID, call waiting, three way calling and repeat dialing are available through the VOIP service. Call forwarding, voicemail, or even screen your calls using the service, are all options that you?ll have as well. In fact, you can check your voicemail online or send emails with attachments.

It is also easy to use. Once you get through the initial installation process and become familiar with how the system works, you are sure to be able to take advantage of it fully. It is as simple as doing what you do now.

VOIP is the telephone system of the future. There is little doubt that you will see it used more and more so in business and in homes around the world. Take advantage of the huge savings that this system can offer you and you?ll see just why so many want to take advantage of VOIP!

Choosing a Mobile Email Devicecategory : Computers-and-Technology:Mobile-Computing
Just a few years ago, there were very few options when it came to mobile email. Now there are many choices. However, not every mobile email device and service is equal. Here are some things to consider when choosing a mobile email device.
Service Expense - Plans can range from $4 per month to $70 per month to $15 per megabyte. Make sure you understand how you will be charged and choose a plan that meets your needs.

International Usage - Many plans only work in the US. If you travel a lot internationally, make sure you choose a plan that works where you need to be. Also make sure you understand the charges for international roaming. Many plans will work, but charge a premium fee of up to $15 per megabyte. You can easily go through 50 megabytes in a month traveling abroad, so these charges can really add up. If you travel a lot you will probably want a provider that offers a flat fee for international usage.

Included Services - Some plans offer unlimited basic email, but charge you extra for web browsing. Others include web browsing and other types of data transfer as long as you are in a certain service area. Once again make sure you understand exactly how you will be billed to avoid unexpected charges. It is not unheard of for someone to get a $750 bill for data usage that they thought was included in their service plan.

Existing Email Accounts - For a device to be useful to you, it needs to work with your existing email accounts. If you have to create a new email account, the result is yet another way for people to get a hold of you. Choosing a device a plan that works with your current email accounts means it will be transparent to the people who normally contact you through email.
Test Your Account - Once your device is setup, you should test it by sending yourself an email to another account and replying to an email that came to your mobile device. This testing is important to make sure you understand exactly what your emails will look like to others. Sometimes mobile email services will automatically add in a signature line or otherwise change the emails being sent and you need to test it so you understand what to expect.

Email Reconciliation - Part of the reason for having a mobile email device is so you can deal with emails out of the office. If your system is setup so you get mobile emails, but then have to deal with each one again, once you get back to your desktop, you may be wasting more time that you are gaining. Look for a system that at a minimum allows you to delete an email off of your mobile device and have it removed from your desktop client automatically.

Input Method - There are various kinds of input methods for mobile devices. Some use a pen based input. Others require typing letters on a numeric keyboard. Others have a mini QWERTY style keyboard embedded in the device. Take the time to choose a device that you are comfortable using. There are few things worse than spending several hundred dollars on a device meant to increase your productivity only to discover that you cannot stand to use it

XML enterpise

The last four decades of the twentieth century witnessed the birth of the Computer Age. Computers have become an essential tool for nearly every corporate worker. Personal computers are now found in over 50 percent of U.S. households, and with this proliferation has come the explosion of the Internet. The Internet has not only changed the way consumers gather information and make their purchases, but it has also completely changed the way corporations must do business.

Today corporations must be able to respond quickly to market pressures and must be able to analyze large quantities of data to make appropriate decisions. To be of any use to the corporation, this data must be accurate, relevant, and available immediately. As we will see in this tutorial, a Digital Nervous System (DNS) will provide the corporation with a computer and software infrastructure that will provide accurate, relevant data in a timely manner. One of the most important elements of the DNS is the movement of data. In many circumstances, the ideal way to move this data will be in Extensible Markup Language (XML) format.

XML can be used to create text documents that contain data in a structured format. In addition to the data, you can include a detailed set of rules that define the structure of the data. The author of the XML document defines these rules. For example, you could create a set of rules that can be used for validating Microsoft Exchange email documents, Microsoft SQL Server databases, Microsoft Word documents, or any type of data that exists within the corporation.

An industry initiative called BizTalk, which was started by Microsoft and supported by many other organizations such as CommerceOne and Boeing, provides a standard set of rules that are agreed upon by different corporate communities and individual corporations. These rules are stored in a central repository and can be used to build standardized XML messages that can be sent between applications within the corporation and to applications belonging to the corporation's partners. Both large and small corporations can benefit from using these XML messages because it allows them to do business with a wider range of partners.

XML can do a great deal more than just move data. Data can be included in an XML document and then an Extensible Stylesheet Language (XSL) page can be used with the XML document to present the data in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 (and hopefully other Web browsers in the near future). Using an XML document and an XSL page allows Web developers to separate data and presentation. tutorial 2 will examine why this technique is essential for corporate Web development.

Another initiative, the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), enables you to use XML to call methods on a remote computer on the Internet, even through a firewall. The SOAP initiative is being developed by Developmentor, Microsoft, and others. For more information on SOAP, visit http://www.develop.com/soap/.
BizTalk, Internet Explorer 5, and SOAP address three of the most important issues facing corporations today:

Creating standardized messages that can be moved inside and outside the corporation (BizTalk)
Separating data and presentation when building Web pages (Internet Explorer 5)
Calling methods through firewalls and between different platforms (SOAP)
The focus of this book will be on the features of XML and how it can be used to address these three issues.

If you've ever had your inbox cluttered with get-rich-quick email and advertisements for porn sites, you know that spam, or unsolicited commercial email, can be a big problem.

Contact your ISP and complain. ISPs don't like spam any more than you do; the mail clogs their servers. The ISP can filter out mail from a suspected spammer address.

Avoid displaying your email address in Internet chat rooms and only give out your email address on secure sites.

Avoid including your email address when you post to newsgroups.

Send a complaint message to the postmaster at the spammer's ISP, if you can figure it out. Many spammers forge return addresses, but you can sometimes figure out the ISP from the full email header. In some email programs you can right-click on the email message and choose Options or Properties to see this information.

Be careful when selecting a free ISP or e-mail account. Some of these services make their money by letting 'sponsors' send email messages to their subscribers.

If your email provider doesn't have a built-in spam filter, search the Web for email filters and other anti-spam software. Many of these programs are free and can be easily installed.

Many newer email programs have junk mail filters. Enable these functions according to the software instructions.
Don't reply to spam unless the message includes clear instructions for removing yourself from a mailing list. In most cases, responding only verifies that your email address is active. Sometimes, the spammer has forged a return address, so by responding you're actually bothering an innocent person.

Change ISPs

Posted by Android On 0 komentar
You may want to change ISPs if you are dissatisfied with your current provider's cost, features, speed, technical support or other qualities. Or you might just want to explore different online options or check out "free month" deals.

Once you've selected a new Internet service provider (ISP), contact the company and obtain any necessary software or other information about signing up.

Contact your current ISP and find out how to terminate your service. Follow the instructions to discontinue your account.

Uninstall and delete the software related to your current ISP. The software may have its own uninstall utility built in.

Use the Add/Remove Programs utility in the control panel to manually uninstall software on a PC.

To manually uninstall applications on a Macintosh, run the software's installer again and look for a Custom Remove option. Or drag the application icon and any extensions it installed (if you remember them) to the Trash, then select Empty Trash from the Special menu.

Follow your new ISP's instructions to install any software it may have provided.

Contact your new ISP and follow instructions to activate your new account.

Avoid Instant Intimacy Online

Posted by Android On 0 komentar
nstant intimacy can lead strangers to say they love each other after spending a few hours together online. Avoiding that syndrome takes vigilance and lots of willpower.

Keep the chat sessions and e-mail playful for the first month or so.

Do some chatting in large groups to ease the romantic pressure on you and your love interest.

Be on guard the moment you have romantic feelings about an online friend.

Be sensible. Maintain a slow pace as the relationship develops.

Wait at least a month before exchanging highly personal information.

Make light of the "L" word until you're absolutely sure you want to use it with your new cyber friend.

Remind your partner (and yourself) periodically of the power of unjustified intimacy, and that you cannot really know each other until you meet.

Take a break from the relationship whenever it begins to feel like an addiction.

Discuss the budding romance with friends and family.

Mention your problems and struggles to your cyber friend when chatting or exchanging e-mail. In other words, show him or her the complete picture of your life.

Set up a meeting in a public place to see if the two of you can pass the "chemistry test."

Teach Child About Internet Safety

Posted by Android On 0 komentar
The World Wide Web is a wonderful tool; with a little bit of education and caution, surfing the Web can be a great experience for your kids.
Help your child pick out a screen name or user name. Avoid names that include a name and/or an age, such as Johnny10.

Surf the Web with your child, letting him or her lead your exploration together (if your child is experienced enough).

Visit some sites for children together.

Teach your child that other people are using the Web just as you are, and explain that it's hard to tell whether they're telling the truth about themselves.

Discuss with your child the potentially harmful topics that could show up on the Web, such as violence, hate material and pornography.

Warn your child not to give out personal information over the Internet, send pictures of himself or herself, or meet someone in person without your permission.

Warn your child not to join any mailing lists without your permission.

Encourage your child not to visit sites or respond to messages that seem strange or scary.

Encourage your child to speak to you or a teacher whenever he or she encounters anything that makes him or her uncomfortable.

If you're looking for a specific broadcast, such as an out-of-town ball game or a syndicated program, use a Web search engine like Google or Yahoo! to find the official Web site for the broadcast.

Find the book "Passport to Web Radio" in a bookstore or library for a comprehensive guide to radio stations around the world and how they broadcast over the Web.

Browse the Yahoo and RealAudio sites for lists of stations by location, format or call letters, including Internet-only stations.

Check periodically for new sites. If the radio station you want to hear isn't broadcasting over the Internet yet, it probably will be soon.

Childproof the Internet

Protect your child from Internet dangers with these guidelines, as outlined by the National Crime Prevention Council.
each your children about things on the Internet that concern you (such as pornography, violence and hate sites) and tell them to notify you immediately if they encounter such material.

Draw clear guidelines so that children know it is not acceptable to give out personal information, agree to meet in person, or send personal photographs to anyone they meet online. Make sure they know never to respond to messages containing offensive or threatening language and to check with you before entering an online area that has special charges.

Take advantage of your Internet service provider's parental controls. These controls can block access to certain Web pages, chat rooms, newsgroups and other Internet resources that are not fit for children.

Purchase blocking software for your computer. These programs block access to certain objectionable sites and prevent children from disclosing personal information on the Internet.

Be aware of the amount of time your children spend online and monitor them occasionally to make sure they're using the Internet safely.

Make sure that your child's school has an acceptable use policy (AUP) for Internet access and that student Internet use is monitored by adults.

If a friend of your child has home Internet access, discuss Internet safety and rules with the friend's parents and find out whether the children will be monitored while online.
