You've gotten addicted to your Palm, and now there are "secrets" on it ... perhaps your little electronic black book. Password-protecting your Palm lets you keep certain records hidden. You can even password-protect your Palm so no one else can use it without your password.

Designate Records as Private
Create a new appointment on your Palm.
Tap Details.
Check Private in the Event Details box.
Tap OK to close the Event Details box.
Hide the Private Records
Tap the House icon (Palm IIIx or later) or the Applications icon (Palm III).
Tap the Security icon (you may need to scroll to the second or third screen to see this icon).
Tap the box next to Password.
Enter a password. Tap OK.
Enter your password again. Tap OK. The field next to Password should now say Assigned.
Tap Hide to hide Private Records.
Tape Hide again.
Your records marked Private will be hidden.
To see Private records, go back to Security and tap Show. You'll be prompted to enter your password.
Password-Protect Your Entire Device
First enter a password as described in the preceding section.
Be sure you are viewing the Security application.
Tap Turn Off & Lock Device. Be certain you know your password before choosing this!
Tap Off & Lock.
Press the On button to turn the device back on. You'll be prompted for your password.

Choose a password that's easy for you to remember and easy for you to write.
If you forget your password, tap Forgotten Password on the device. It will delete any private records, but you can get them back at your next HotSync (assuming they were there for your last HotSync).
If you Turn Off & Lock Device and you forget your password, you'll need to completely reset your device. You'll be able to HotSync to get information back from your computer, but you'll lose many of your third-party programs. Be careful!
